Counting My Blessings

There are a lot of folks out there who are in difficult circumstances right now. Sometimes it's a single parent trying to raise kids without help, or a family member with health problems, or a parent who was laid off (too common these days). It makes me think, too briefly, about how lucky I am, and then I move on to something else. But there is a family right here in Austin who has had such a bad run that I feel compelled to do something to help.

The family had their third baby last August, way premature, and since then he has had a host of major health problems and is hospitalized again now. Just a few weeks ago, the father (source of income and health insurance) was laid off. They don't know if their baby will survive or how they will pay for the huge bills.

We are so freaking lucky to have a healthy beautiful wonderful happy giggly bright-eyed smiley perfect little baby. I should never take that for granted. Never never never.

Here is a link to the mother's blog. If you click on "Ike-a-saurus" under "Categories" you'll get a good summary of what happened last year with the pregnancy.
